October 30, 2026: Multipurpose Encoder v3.2.9 released

Multipurpose Encoder 3.2.9 is available.

  • Changed: AES file encryption much faster: encrypted recording, Encrypt_File and Decrypt_File were limited to about 15 MB/s, they now run at disk speed. File format unchanged: files encrypted by previous versions remain readable, and files encrypted by this version are readable by previous versions
  • Changed: Encrypt_File / Decrypt_File delete the output file on failure, instead of leaving a partial file
  • Fixed: AES: files encrypted with the same key within the same second were not encrypted independently, which weakened the encryption
  • Fixed: the encryption no longer alters the rand() sequence of the host application
  • Fixed: encrypted recording, Encrypt_File and Decrypt_File failed on paths containing non-ASCII characters
  • Fixed: AES Decrypt_File produced a file larger than the original (extra bytes at the end)
  • Fixed: Decrypt_File returned success when the output file could not be created or written
  • Fixed: Encrypt_File returned success on a truncated output after a read error, and left the input file locked when it was already encrypted
  • Fixed: nvenc: the default low-latency setting was not accepted by FFmpeg 9
  • Fixed: qsv: the CAVLC setting was ignored
  • Fixed: GPU encoder set to Auto: the hardware encoders in use were miscounted after an encoder failed to open
